A trustworthy ‘insider’ source said that Samsung was preparing a folding screen smartphone with a clamshell model or similar to a flip cellphone which had a trend in the late 1990s to early 2000. Quoting BGR, this folding screen smartphone is estimated to be slimmer with a small display on the outside, similar to the design of the Moto RAZR 2019, a folding screen smartphone made by Motorola that is predicted to slide next year.
One more model similar to Huawei Mate X is also reportedly being designed. This model will have one large tablet screen that can be folded vertically like a book.
So far, there is still no Samsung representative willing to respond to rumours related to the two brand-new folding screen smartphones. If this news is true, Samsung seems to be quite ambitious about the market for folding screen smartphones. Chances are, the South Korean giant will release a folding screen smartphone model each year, as they have done for the flagship series Galaxy S and Galaxy Note. However, keep in mind if folding screen smartphones are currently still being released as luxury devices aimed at certain market segments. Until now it is unknown how much interest the market has in Samsung’s folding screen smartphone because the new Galaxy Fold is not yet available for purchase, it can be ordered on April 26.
