With an area of 3,065 m2, this Samsung cellphone outlet is located in the southern city of Bengaluru which is a technology centre in India. The outlet is also believed to help expand Samsung’s excellence in India to compete with Apple Inc., which has not opened flagship stores in the world’s second-largest smartphone market. India, which has more than one billion wireless connections, presents profitable opportunities for smartphone makers to grow beyond China and the US where growth has slowed. Previously, Samsung also opened the world’s largest smartphone factory outside the capital New Delhi about two months ago. “India is a very important market and Samsung plans to open more official outlets in the top cities here,” Mohandeep Singh, senior vice president of Samsung India’s cellular business told Reuters. “These outlets will really help us further consolidate our share for us to move forward,” he added. The new outlet will feature Samsung mobile devices while exhibiting the latest consumer electronics and innovations. This will also be a service centre for telephones. Samsung, which runs 2,100 stores in India through franchise partners, faces a number of Chinese brands led by Xiaomi Corp.
