This technology is more or less similar to the fingerprint scanner sensor on the screen, which has begun to be applied by today’s flagship devices. Quoting The Verge, a smartphone with a front camera under the screen or termed OPPO as ‘Under Screen Camera’ or ‘USC’ was exhibited at the 2019 Shanghai Mobile World Conference (MWC) which took place last week in Shanghai, China.
How USC works:
The smartphone screen uses transparent material that has been customized. This material is claimed to be able to work with a pixel structure that has been overhauled. This reshuffle allows light to enter the camera.
OPPO said this camera sensor is bigger than other front cameras because it has a wider lens aperture. The screen area where the ‘home’ camera sensor can also be operated by touch. This Chinese vendor claims, even though the camera is immersed in the screen, the quality of the camera will remain safe. OPPO acknowledges the position of the camera as it will reduce image quality, such as the results of foggy, glare, and poor colouring. To outsmart them, they also use software algorithms to support camera hardware. OPPO bragged that the quality of the camera that sank beneath the screen was no less competitive than the conventional front camera smartphone on the market today. This technology is promised to be present in the OPPO smartphone line in the near future.
