Recently Samsung released a new vision on the notch. The company had not previously placed a notch on its smartphones but showed during its Developer Conference the Infinity O-notch, where there is only a lap in the screen for the selfie camera. Huawei is now working with such a notch, and in December already shows the first smartphone with the new ‘notch’.
Huawei has sent a teaser through various channels that clearly shows that it’s smartphone will get a ‘hole’ in the screen for the camera – that is clear from the comet in the upper left corner. The hole will serve as a complete replacement for the current notch on the Mate 20 Pro, making the screen edges even smaller. Other sensors may be placed partly under the screen – it is plausible that Huawei will use the OLED techniques of Samsung Displays for this purpose. Where Huawei is planning to place the speaker is not yet known, though chances are that Huawei will choose the upper screen edge – however, whether thick or thin edges, we will be waiting to know, even though it applies to all screen edges.
New member of the Mate 20 series?
It is striking that Huawei has decided to release a new smartphone in December. In October, the company announced the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro in London. In addition, it is completely unclear where Huawei would like to position the device. Huawei makes it a habit to introduce new features on high-end smartphones. Considering the device just after the unveiling of the Mate 20 series, and again for the P30 Series: a series that is usually presented in March or April… it is still much unclear. For now, we have to wait until Huawei lets you know more about the device – or until the first images of the device start to leak. The teaser also seems to be made for the Chinese market.
